Jackie and Rembert and the Large Pony Hunters

What judge could resist the expression on this pony's face? This is 12 year old Jackie and her pony, Trigger (show name Rembert). Jackie and Rembert show all over the eastern states in the Regular Large Pony Hunters.

Pony hunter classes are separated first by the size of the pony. A "small" is any pony who measures 12.2 hands and under. A "medium" is a pony between 12.3 and 13.2 hands. A "large" pony is 13.3 to 14.2 hands.

A judge would have a difficult time finding fault with Jackie and Trigger going over this fence. The pony is eager, his expression is exactly what a rider hopes for, his legs tucked neatly, and he is already looking toward the next fence. He and Jackie clearly trust each other.

Jackie is immaculately turned out in appropriate hunter show ring attire, and the expression on her face shows she is concentrating on the rest of her course while having fun. Many hours every day go into training, conditioning and preparing for the level of shows Jackie and Trigger compete in. No wonder they come home with so many blue ribbons!

* Do you know what a "hand" is when measuring a horse or pony, and where the measurement is taken?
